The Sheep Islands

The Faroe Islands, or "Føroyar," meaning "Sheep Islands," traces its name back to Old Norse origins. Legend has it that sheep arrived even before the Vikings. Today, sheep still roam freely across our hills and valleys, and their population outnumbers our people.

Reviving a Legacy

Guðrun & Guðrun was founded to reclaim the rich heritage of Faroese knitting. Using unique techniques like “whisper knitting,” we blend tradition with innovation, and we extend the spirit of the Faroes to others around the globe.

Working with Women We Love

Guðrun & Guðrun products are hand-knitted by women in the Faroe Islands, Jordan, and Peru. We know them all by name. Our aim is to restore integrity and decency to fashion by honoring their contributions and ensuring they remain well-treated, well-trained, gainfully-employed, and fairly-paid.
