telva

telva means to play chess. and that's what came into my mind when i saw this sweater for the first time. I, guðrun rógvadóttir, have been observing the designer, gudrun ludvig, at work for a long time. she had a different approach this time. she was drawing lines and trying new angles and sizes of the lines and squares.

initially i didn't know what to think. what was the message this time? but – as with good art – the design started to grow on me. slowly, but surely. and now I simply love it. I guess you can't rush love – not if you want it to last.

I decided to get one in white (not surprisingly, since 90% of my closet is white). but as it often happens, I couldn't get a hold of one, since the customers are always first in line. ah well, I'm still dreaming my dreams.

the cool thing about telva, also, is that it's made of 100% alpaca, and every sweater is hand-brushed after knitting. the brushing makes the material like fur, soft as butter, and it's not even losing hair.

stitch

in case you still didn't know – we have a looot of sheep in the faroe islands. we have plenty of faroese wool as a waste product from mutton production, but unfortunately, we don't use this resource to the full extent. we, however, try to incorporate as much use of this fantastic product as we can.

this sweater was made with an old technique, where we use thin threads and thin needles. it takes many hours to hand-knit every single sweater.

the result is a quite fragile-looking piece (don't worry though, it's way more durable than it looks), which gives it a somewhat sophisticated feel to it.

xo, guðrun rógvadóttir
